Check out this awesome MIJ Squier. I’m the original owner and sometime in the late 90′s I became embarassed about playing a Squier so I sanded the label off, bought a high quality knock-off, period correct Strat headstock decal and refinished the headstock. As you can see by the photos, it looks perfect. This is a beautifully aged, Hendrix approved white with some nice upgrades: All pickups have been replaced with 1991 American Standard vintage style pickups.Solid steel Trem BlockVintage string trees instead of the roller type it came with.Quality 5 way switch from Antique Electronics So now there is no serial number on it but you can clearly see that this an E series Japanese Squier. Note the sealed Fender logo tuners, ’57 style one-ply pickguard, vintage bridge, skunk stripe neck and neck plate with rubber gasket. Not to mention the original case it came in. Honestly, this is as good a strat as you’ll ever play. There are two dings, beauty marks from my gigging days. One on the top side and one on the bottom. You can see them clearly in the sixth and seventh photos. Other that that, this guitar is immaculate and has very little fret wear. The action is low and it has a fairly flat neck radius (10″?) so it plays like a dream. Extremely comfy neck. Any questions, please feel free to ask. Up for bid is an amazing Squier Stratocaster setup with 12 gauge strings that’s tuned down to C. It could easily be put back to standard tuning with a simple intonation adjustment, though it sounds mighty fine for post punk, dark music, and spaghetti western type stuff. Being 20+ years old, this guitar has some natural cosmetic wear with some dings and chips on the body, pickguard, and headstock (see pictures). And the crack in the pickguard does not go all the way through, so there is no fear of the tone knob sinking in or anything. Overall, if you like a worn in charm and relic feel, you will love this guitar. You can tell it’s a player and has seen lots of love over the years. The neck is nicely worn in and feels and plays amazing! As for the electronics, everything is original except for the bridge pickup, which is a Fender Tex Mex and has a powerful punch to it. The electronics work great, though the pickup selector is a bit scratchy during movement from the bridge to the middle pickup position. It’s still functional and does not cause any problem during play, it just needs to be cleaned with some contact cleaner to remove the noise during adjustment.Also, the whammy bar functions beautifully and the guitar stays in good tuning during its use. The tweed gig bag is included and is very nice, unlike those cheapie thin gig bags you can buy for $30 bucks or so. Here is a very nice MIJ Fender Squier SQ Series Strat with Fender Custom Shop Texas Specials,and a 70′s style hardshell case. Serial #SQ21025.As you can see the guitar has plenty of mojo,somewhere during it’s life some idiot decided to carve out the pickup cavity.The pots and switch are original but the pickups are now Texas Specials.Also it looks like when the numbskull carved the body he managed to let what ever tool he was using put some worm marks in the top that the pickguard can’t hide,also some mild marks near the bridge[blow up the picture to get a good idea of the condition].Neck and frets are in excellent condition with only a hint of any wear.Knobs,switch tip,and pickup covers are new.Guitar also includes a white tipped whammy bar which I forgot to put on when I took the pictures.Good news is the guitar plays great with low action and killer stratocaster tones.Definitely a players guitar,you collectors check out some of my other guitars.A very cool guitar period. Here is a very cool Made in Japan Fender E Series System 1 strat that has been rode hard.Serial # E539009.Neck is in good condition with some fret wear,but with these jumbo frets it really has millions of notes left.The back of the neck looks like the finish was worn off,but then lightly clear coated again.Neck plays great and this guitar freaking wails.A real scrapper.Fender Japan logo sealed tuners.System One bridge works very well,the fine tuners are allen screws that work fine but are a little harder to turn with your fingers because of their small diameter,whammy bar,and locking nut are all aftermarket replacements,[very hard to find one of these guitars with all original parts].Pickups are older active EMG’s[2001 marked on the pickguard],and electronics are working great ,and sound awesome.The neck pickup has no logo left and has been grooved up from the strings touching it in the past. Whole guitar is in relic condition,some appears natural,some appears forced.Has indentations,scuffs,wear marks,and scratches all over it. This guitar has had the snot played out of it,if your looking for a pretty guitar this is not it.If you want one with great playability,sound and attitude this could be your answer.Remember how Rocky looked in the 10th round right before his comeback.Guitar looks cool,sounds and plays great.I still recommend a pro set up to your individual preferences. I am selling my old 1985 E Series Squire Strat. These early 80′s MIJ guitars are highly regarded as some of the best Strats ever and becoming more collectible as they approach vintage status. This guitar sounds and plays great. The neck is straight and in nice shape, frets show minimal wear, action is good with no buzzes. As an additional feature, this guitar was signed years ago by John Kay (&Steppenwolf). According to previous owner, the guitar was purchased at an Estate Sale of a guitar collector. His home was located near Pine Knob Music Theatre (North of Detroit MI) and he sold several signed guitars. I have no paperwork regarding the signature so bid accordingly. It appears the signature could be removed with some cleaning and buffing, but I have not attempted to since it sets this guitar apart from others. History The Fender Contemporary models were the first Fender Japan models to be exported as Fender Stratocasters and Telecasters. The previous Fender Japan models exported from Japan were all Fender Squier models. The Fender Contemporary models were manufactured from 1984 to 1987 by FujiGen Gakki and these Stratocasters were designed to be Superstrats (Super Strat) with humbucking pickups and Floyd Rose like tremolos made by Schaller. There was a lower priced Fender Contemporary Squier model produced as well. The Fender Contemporary Stratocaster and Telecaster models were part of the Fender Japan E series model range. When CBS sold Fender to its current owners in 1984 there was a transitional period from 1984 to 1987 with limited Fender USA production resulting in mostly Fender Japan and leftover stock being sold. There are also Fender Contemporary Telecaster models with HSS or HH pickup configurations and switches for selecting pickup options. Reviews I have 3 80′s made Japanese Squier Strats. These are bog standard Strats, just as Leo intended them to be. 3 single coil pickups, 5 way selector, 1 volume and 2 tone controls. It does everything, but I’ll give a 9 because it doesnt tune itself. Action, Fit, & Finish: I happen to be very happy with the fit and finish. I lowered the action slightly. The paintjob is 20 years old, and is still bright and shiny and makes a mockery of those stupid and pointless ‘relic’ jobs. Ive seen countless 70′s and even 60′s Fenders that, other than a few chips, look as good as new. These 80′s made Japanese Strats are as well made and finishes as any, and I mean ANY, that Ive seen. They mnay not have the so called ‘mojo’ of a real ’62 Strat, but I think they have a ‘mojo’ of their own. Sound Quality: Like the majority of amatuer and semi pro guitarists, I play almost everything to a reasonable level.Ive been playing since the early 70′s and have tried almost every guitar worth buying. Les Pauls, SG’s, 335′s, Tele’s,,,you get the picture.. I keep going back to a Strat because it does everything I want and is such a comfortable guitar to play. I have spent/wasted, hundreds of pounds on after market pickups – its so easy to fall for the hype – in fact I recently installed some very expensive USA ’boutique’ pickups in one of my Strats, and you know what, I still prefer the tone of the orginal Japanese ones.

For sale is my vintage 1987 Fender Squier Stratocaster made in japan mij E series. I have 2 of these, so I decided that I might as well get rid of one since they sound the same. For those of you who do not know about these Japanese Fenders, do not be discouraged by the Squier name. Fender was shut down in the 80′s for a short time, so their production was moved to the fujigen factory in Japan. The Squiers and Fenders from Japan from the 80′s are the exact same guitars. These guitars are amazing. To me, they sound comparable to, if not better than an American strat. Just a few days ago I set up this guitar and strung it with a set of DR 10′s. I also installed steel threaded neck inserts which greatly increases the structural integrity of the neck joint and also increases the sustain. This guitar functions perfectly, and none of the pots are “scratchy.” There are a few external dings and scratches; I took a picture of the ones that actually go through the paint. The other scratches are very small and not very visible. If you would like any additional pictures, or if you have any questions please ask. This has a maple neck with a nice slab of rosewood for the fret board. I do not know the wood used in the body;I am assuming it is alder but there is no way I can be sure. The tremolo stays in tune very well, and there is little to no fret wear. The only thing missing is the back plate; other than that this guitar is complete. To the buyer: If you would like I can ship the guitar with the neck removed, but if not I will make sure to package the guitar very well. No refunds, no returns. Trem arm is included.
